What is Red Meat?
Red Meat: -
Red meat is said to be as red meat because the flesh of this is red in color. Red meat comes from mammals, and they have high myoglobin levels in their body due to which the color of their flesh is complete red even in its raw state. As red meat already has inbulit red color in its raw state or even they are in highly red state so giving other color to these food items is typically difficult because mainly these types of meat can change their color from red to brown only when we add yellow turmeric in that at the time of processing.
Types of Red Meat: -
1. Beef (from cattle): -
It is the type of red meat in which beef can be included. Beef is the meat in which cattle can be included or we can say that the dishes made from red meat in which beef is presented is basically the flesh of the cow or cattle. Beef can be eaten by large number of people but can't be taken by the people those who worship the cow as a God. For those people eating beef is prohibited.
Uses: -
- Beef can be used in steaks where it can be processed in tandoori form and most of the people like to eat steaks like that.
- Beef can also use in burger as a tikki which is deep fried and fully made of beef covered with delicious spices.
- It can also be made in the form of stews, and we can also roast the beef and can be used in the form of barbeque.
Nutritional Value: -
- Beef is high in proteins, nutrients and minerals which is beneficial for individual's body health.
- It is also rich in iron and zinc which support brain functions.
- It is also a good source of vitamin B12 which is difficult to found in other Animal-Based food or plant-based food.
- It can also be high in saturated fats depending on the cut.
2. Pork (from pigs): -
Pork is also a type of red meat like beef, but the difference is that beef can be made from the flesh of the cow, and the pork can be made from the flesh of the pig. Pork can be liked by many of the people but those people or those regions where pigs can be worshipped that people or in that region's pork is prohibited. They can't eat pork. They can eat other meat items except pork.
Uses: -
- Pork cannot be eaten in their raw form; it can always be eaten in roasted form.
- Pork is also used to make sausages and then those sausages can be used in various delicious dishes.
- Pork can also be used as bacon, pulled pork and salami which can be one of the favorite dishes of various people.

- Pork is a good source of proteins which is very good for our health.
- Pork also contains thiamine which means it can contain vitamin B1 which is present in higher amounts in pork than other meats or any other meat products.
c. Lamb and Mutton (from sheep): -
Lamb: -
Lamb is also a type of red meat that is derived from the young sheep whose age is less than 1 year. Basically, lamb can be derived from the baby sheep which is full of proteins, vitamins and minerals.
Mutton: -
Mutton is also a type of red meat which is usually derived from adult sheep, or we can say that mutton meat can be considered as a meat of sheep whose age is more than one year. Mutton is also a good source of proteins, vitamins and minerals which is very beneficial for us.
Uses: -
- Lamb and Mutton meat is widely used in Middle Eastern, Indian, and European cuisines.
- Lamb and Mutton cannot be taken in raw form. It is always taken in Grilled or Roasted form.
- Lamb and Mutton mostly used in stews and curries.
- It can also be used in steam form basically lamb can be steam or boiled also. It can also be taken by adding salt to the meat products.

Uses: -
- Goat meat is often used to make curries which is very popular in Indian cuisine.
- It can also be used as stews and barbecues.
- Goat meat is very famous in South Asia, Caribbean and in African Cuisines.

- Goat meat contains less fat as compared to beef and pork. Goat meat is full of nutrients that us very beneficial for our body and goat meat is considered as leaner than beef and pork.
- Goat meat is high in iron and potassium and calcium which is very good for bone health.
