Role of FSSAI in Food Industry complete

 What is FSSAI? 

The abbreviation of the FSSAI comes from the full form of Food Safety and Standard Authority of India. It is an autonomous body for the food industry which is established under the act of Food Safety and Standard Act which was originally established in 2006 under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare which is owned by the Government of India. The FSSAI is the main regulatory authority that is mainly established to ensure the quality of the food. Which generally means that this authority is specially established under the act only to work for the food organization. The various food companies that are working int he food industry and are making the numerous varieties of the food product have to pass their food product from the FSSAI before the marketing and from bringing the food product in the market. This is the main duty of the FSSAI to check the quality of the food before passing the food product. The main aim or the main role of the FSSAI is to check the quality of the product and only after then that particular product will able to come in the market and if after by passing the product from FSSAI will harm the health of the consumer then all the blame will shifted to the FSSAI so they have to do their work efficiently and faithfully. 


The main goal of this authority is to ensure the safety, quality and the hygiene of the food. Its main aim is to protect the life of the consumer or to protect the public health by setting some standards for the food products and regulating their   manufacture, storage, distribution sale and importing sale. FSSAI can check each and every detail of the company and of the particular food product and their related terms like ingredients quality and quantity all these things. After analyzing the product details and the product quality the FSSAI can pass the particular product by giving them their past logo on particular product and by giving the 11digit license number for the particular product. When any particular food item comes in the FSSAI for the approval then the first step of the authority is to check the quality of the product and if the FSSAI is satisfied and can approve the product. The FSSAI can provide the 11-digit license number to the particular product so that it will be easy for the consumer to fetch the details of the particular product. 

Objectives of FSSAI: -

The main objective of the FSSAI is to ensure that the food consumed by the customers in India is totally safe, wholesome and of good quality which is very safe for the human health. To get approved form the FSSAI and to achieve the goal for the FSSAI authority, the FSSAI have to perform a wide range of scientific, regulatory and awareness-related functions. The main objectives oof the FSSAI is: -

Ensuring Food Safety and Quality: - 

The main and the topmost objective of the FSSAI is to protect the public health by ensuring that the food that is available to the customers is totally safe, pure and free from contamination and having a good quality and that particular food item does not affect or harm the people's health. The FSSAI authority have to set some of the scientific standards for the food production, food quality, storage, processing, distribution and sale to maintain the quality of the food at every stage. 

Setting Scientific Standard for the Food: -

The FSSAI have the authority to set the some of the scientific standards for the food items so the food companies that want to launch their any product they have to get approved their products from the FSSSAI is to get the approval for their particular product they have to prepare their product according to that scientific standard.  If the product's detail can match all the requirements of the scientific standards only, then the product is able to get the approval for that particular product. 

Licensing and Registration of Food Businesses: -

From the licensing and the registration of the food business we mean that every food company have to get registered and each and every food company must have their own food license. FSSAI makes it mandatory for all the food business operators (FBOs) that they have to obtain the food license, and every food operator have to register their food business before starting their business operations in the market. This license and the registration help the FSSAI in monitoring and controlling the food business effectively.

Promoting Food Safety Awareness: - 

From promoting the awareness about the food, we mean that the main role of the FSSAI is too aware the various food operators that they have to maintain the food safety and hygiene if they want to market their product. For this safety and awareness, the FSSAI have set some scientific standards and if the food operator wants to market their any particular food product and to get the approval for that product, they will have to match that scientific standards. FSSAI can also trains the various food business owners that how they can maintain the food safety and standards so that their food product will enjoy in the market and can be safe for the people's health. To do this work the FSSAI can run various programs like FoSTac (Food Safety Training and Certification) under this types of program the FSSAI can train the food business owners that what types of things they can be used in their products and what types of steps should be taken by them in the preparation of the food product so that the food product cannot be harm for anyone. In these programs they can also suggest the food operators which types of preservatives can be safe for food operators that they can use to make their food product and that preservatives and extent the shelf life of their food product and can prevent them from spoilage and even though these preservatives are also not harmful for the consumers so that the consumers can freely able to consume  that types of preservativ3es without any fear.
