As every industry have to update itself to match the speed of time and have to be updated to get mostly liked by the customers the updating is very necessary like if we talk about the clothing industry they have to update itself with the new fashion, they have to follow the new fashion, they have to considered the like and dislike of the customer and even though they also have to keep in mind that the new fashion cloth they are making can come in the liking list of the customers or not. Similarly, food industry also has many trends and there are also some points that we have to keep in mind and have to be concerned while we are working in the food industry.
Things to be keep in mind in the Food Industry are: -
- Food Safety and Hygiene: - The safety and Hygiene of the food is one of the most basic and crucial pillars of the food industry. Because even one mistake in this pillar can not only harm people but it also destroys the whole brand of the food industry whether you are working on this brand from many years. A simple and very little mistake in this pillar can destroy you completely. To keep the safety and hygiene of the product is your first priority while you are working in the food industry. Evey food handler have to wear the clean uniform, gloves, hairnet and mask to keep the product clean and free from any type of germs. Not only the food handler the surfaces of all the tools and equipment's that are used in the making of any particular product have to be clean and must be sanitize regularly.
- Quality Control and Consistency: - In the Food Industry the basic and most important things to keep in mind is that when a customer buys any product or like it then it's the normal mentality of the customer every time is that customer expect the same taste, appearance and quality every time they buy a product. As the customer expect the same taste every time then it is the main duty of the brand owner that they have to maintain the same taste and the same quality of the product. To maintain the taste and quality of the particular food product it is mandatory to establish the Quality Control (QC) and the Quality Assurance (QA) system for all the products must be established. To maintain the QC and QA it is necessary to use the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The main duty of the Food Manager in this process is to inspect the freshness and the quality of the raw material before the raw material or any ingredient can use in the making of any product.
- Proper Storage and Inventory Management: - As every food or every product can make by using various different ingredients and can be prepared under different conditions and different circumstances and after the preparation the food to store that particular product is also very essential. As we know that the storage can affect the food quality and the shelf life of the food. Food material must be stored according to their nature and temperature needs. In the food industry it is necessary that the storage system can be dependent on the FIFO system which means First in and First Out. In this food industry the FIFO will tell us that the older stock will have to use the first so that the shelf life and the quality of the food product can be maintained and it get use before the spoilage. While working in the food industry it is also very important that we have to avoid the overstocking of any product so that the product will be prevented from the spoilage. In this one more thing have to be kept in mind is that before storing the product is that we have check the humidity and the temperature especially for dry goods, refrigerated and frozen products. Because for frozen products it is very essential that frozen products have to be kept in refrigerator otherwise the frozen products get contaminated and spoiled in quick time.
- Packaging and Labeling: - As Everyone says that Don't Judge a Book by its cover but in reality, the truth is that "A book can be Judge by its Cover Only". Similarly, in the food industry the customer can purchase the product by its packaging for the first time. Because the packaging is the only way to attract the customers of the first time because first time the customer can be attracted to the food item only by the packaging material only after that they will get the chance to taste the particular food item. Packaging not only protect the food, but it also plays a very important role in the communication with the user. Packaging can communicate the important information to the consumer. The packaging of the food product can also tell us about the grade of the food. While packing the food product the thing we have to keep in mind is that the packaging must be leak-proof, tamper-evident and in the airtight that can protect the food from light, air and moisture.
- Customer Health and Nutrition: - As nowadays health awareness is rising globally due to which the consumer is more conscious and aware about what they are eating so it is very important for the food companies that they have to make their product tasty, hygienic and having good nutrition so that customer can purchase their product without any fear. Companies of the food industry have to mention each, and every detail related to the product contain inside the package. They have to mention the list of all the particular ingredients from which the food product is made and all the other details like the proteins, carbs, carbohydrates, proteins and every single detail related to the product have to be mentioned on the package so that the customer can able to read all the details and can make sure that the product is safe and good for them.
