What is Animal-Based Food Sources?

Animal-Based food sources are the type of food source that we get from animals. This is a basically a type of food sources that are derived from animal or are taken from animals. These include eggs, poultry, meat etc. are the basic type of Animal-Based Food source. These foods are rich in essential nutrients, proteins, vitamins and minerals that are also very beneficial for our health and body growth. 

In today's world, Animal-Based food sources are very favorable and important for each and every person. It is true that Animal-Based food is rich in nutrients, proteins, vitamins, minerals and those amino acids which is difficult to get in plant-based food. 

Categories of Animal-Based Food Sources: -


1. Meat: -

Meat is referred to as the edible flesh of different animals that are consumed as food. The flesh of any bird, animal and mammal that can be edible is refer to as eatable meat. Not of all animals but there are some animals, birds and mammals whose flesh is edible which means we can eat the flesh of that animals as a food. Eating of the meat can be depend on the variety of the meat or the animal whose flesh we are using to eat because there are some of the type of meat that can be eaten as raw but there are some meat type are also there that cannot be eaten as raw to eat that meat we have to process it and in processing of the meat products lot of spices can be added in the flesh to enhance the flavor of the meat and to enhance its delicacy. 

Meat is very beneficial for us as it is a complete protein in its own meal because it can contain all the essential nutrients, proteins, vitamins and all the amino acids that are beneficial for our body. it can contain minerals which helps our muscle to get repair and can increase the growth of the muscle, it also supports our immune health because it contains nutrients like zinc, iron and vitamin B6 and B12.

Example: - Beef, Mutton, Pork, Lamb etc. 


2. Dairy Products: -

Dairy Products are also considered as Animal-Based products as it made from the milk amd milk can be given by different kinds of animal, so dairy products can be considered in the list of Animal-Based food sources. If ee talked about other products like cheese, butter, cream and yogurt all these things can also be made from milk. 



Uses: -

  • The basic and most important item that come in the dairy products is the milk. Milk can be taken as a healthy drink because it is rich in various types of nutrients and vitamins.
  • Milk is a drink that can be taken as a raw or we can also mix any flavor in the milk or extra protein powder in the milk to enhance the flavors and proteins of the milk. 
  • Another item of dairy product is cheese which can be used in various dishes whether it is an Indian cuisine, Chinese cuisine or any other cuisine. Cheese can also be used in fermented way like we can do the Fermentation of blue cheese, cheddar and parmesan.

Health Benefits: -

  • All the dairy products are high in calcium, protein and fat that support our bone health.
  • It can also contain high sodium and saturated fats that help us to keep us fit and healthy.


3. Poultry & Eggs: -

The word poultry means that animals or birds that are domesticated. Poultry meat and poultry eggs can refer to the meat and eggs of the animals that are domesticated by some poultry farmers. There are some of the birds and animals that are domesticated for business purposes also. Basically, we can say that poultry refers to the domesticated birds that are raised for their meats, eggs and both. Poultry birds are not wild, these are kept in farms, in backyards for commercial and personal purposes. There are various birds and animals in which some of them are kept for their eggs and some are kept for their meat or flesh, or some are kept for both the purposes.

Poultry is one of the most common and affordable sources of animal protein, but the type of pf protein is dependent on the type of the meat we are getting. Mainly, Poultry products are very beneficial for us in business and in health in both the purposes. Poultry products are very beneficial for our body health because these products are fully covered with natural source of proteins, vitamins, minerals and fiber. Basically, poultry product is used to complete the proteins that are essential for our body.

Example: - Chicken, Turkey, Duck and Goose.


4. Sea Food: -

Sea food is basically a food product that get from sea and sea related animals. There are numerous types of animals that are living in the sea and the oceans and that animals are full of proteins and vitamins so when they get dead the human use them as the food products to get all the nutrients and proteins that are present inside that animal. Not only the animals there are many other things present in the sea that are delicious in their taste and can be full of proteins and vitamins. 


Uses: -

  • Sea food can be considered as the staple food in many of the cultures, because of its vitamins and nutrients. It can be considered for its health benefits and culinary versatility. 
  • It can be used as a health supplement as these foods are rich in vitamins, minerals, proteins, healthy fats and all kinds of amino acids so these food products are also used to make health supplement which are beneficial for those who lack in these proteins. 
  • Fish oil capsules are rich in vitamins and proteins that's why it should be recommended as a medicine to those people who lack in their proteins and vitamins.

5. Bone Broth and Animal-Based Gels: -

Bone Broths are the food that are derived from animal bones. This type of food is derived from the simmered bones of chicken, beef, pork and fish. Animal-Based gels are the type of gelatin that are also extracted from animal bones along with their skin. These bone broth and gels are high in collagen, amino acids and minerals.


 

Uses: -

  • The bone broth and gels are mostly used in desserts from which we can make a lot of desserts from these broths which make our desserts tasty as well as healthy.
  • It is also used in marshmallows; the softness and the sugary taste of the marshmallows can be driven from these gels.
  • It can be used in many types of medicinal products. Some people refer to take this after their meal as it is very beneficial for our body.

6. Fermented Animal Products: -

Fermentation is a process of cooking that are used to make the processed food more nutritious. Fermentation can be done in animal-based food sources to make that more nutritious and to increase the digestibility of the food. Normally, the digestion of animal-based food is little bit difficult to digest but the Fermentation makes the food so soft and delicious in taste and easy to digest.

Uses: -

  • Fermentation is mostly done with fish in animal-based food products. Fish is very rich in probiotics, and the Fermentation is used to enhance the flavor of the fish and increase these probiotics.
  • Meat is also an animal-based food, and the fermentation of the meat can be done to extend its shelf life. It is very true that the shelf life of raw meat is very less if it does not get freeze at lower temperature in the refrigerators, but the fermentation can extend the shelf life of the meat if it does not get refrigerate. It also helps to concentrate the flavor of the meat products.
  • Fermented cheese is also an Animal-Based products and is very famous in the foodies. Because those people who love to eat cheese they are madly in love with fermented cheese. As fermented cheese can contain beneficial bacteria and vitamins.
