Thali

Thali: -

Thali is basically an indian traditional way of serving the different types of food or different varieties of the dishes in a single plate. That single plate which we generally called as thali can considered various varieties and components. The word thali is basically the word that comes from the Hindi or Sanskrit language which typically meaning a type of large plate or the platter that can contains numerous items in the single plate. The concept of the thali is mostly used and followed by the Indian because it is only the Indians or the Indian culture that can serve the wide varieties of the dishes. This thali can represent the balanced, various varieties and the nourishment of various dishes. By combining varieties of the dishes together makes a proper thali and that thali contains different food items that together make a wholesome meal. The various different items in the thali not only contains the delicious dishes and that dishes are not good in taste only but that dishes are very healthy for the body too. By combining various varieties of the dishes in the single plate make the plate more delicious and healthier. This thali can contain the various varieties of the dishes that make the thali complete and well-balanced. Various item and various types of dishes are to be included in the thali like the main course, desserts and various side dishes also. 

              


The various items or dishes that can be included in the thali are cereals, pulses, vegetables, various types of dairy products and condiments that can served in a small portion in one plate. Each item that can be present in the thali had play a specific role in providing the taste, nutrition and satisfaction. This thali can include various items as already said and every single dish and every single item can play a very crucial role in the thali that can provide us the unique taste, flavor, aroma and well-balanced of nutrients, vitamins, fiber and minerals. This is not enough yet the that is to be served in the thali is a complete meals because in the thali various varieties of dishes and items can be served out of which some are a part of main meal which we generally called as the main course and it can also contain the side dishes like samosa, dhokla and many other side dishes and desserts along with papad, pickles and various types of chutneys based on the region and the culture of the thali. The items or the dishes to be served in the thali can depend on the region, state, part and the culture of the place in which the thali is being presented. A thali is not just the varieties of food that can be served in the single plate, but it is a plate of complete, balanced and culturally rich meal that not only reflects the food, but it can represent the diversity of whole India, nutrition wisdom and the tradition of wholesome eating in its plate. 

Types of Thalis: -

As we already know that India is country in which there exists many different states, regions, cultures and traditions and the food cuisines is also very different served in all the parts, states, regions, cultures and traditions, Each and every item served in the India is very unique, healthy, tasty and delicious. The various types of thalis served in India are: - 

North Indian thali: - 

North Indian thali is also a type of thali which contain numerous food items or food dishes. The north Indian thali is basically the thali that contains all the food items that are generally cooked, served and eaten in the north part of India. As we already said that India is a rich country which is rich in different states, parts, tradition and culture and all the items that is served and eaten in the north part of the India and all that food items to be served in a single plate and that single plate is refer to as the north Indian thali. North Indian thali contains all the food items and the dishes that is to be served in the northern part of India. 

           



South Indian thali: - 

As similar to North India, south India is also a very main and important part of the India that cover a large area of India. Similar to north India, south Indian people have their different tradition, cultures, language, outfit and food and the food of south India is like by many people in the whole world. The south Indian food can contain a specialty that with the flavor and taste of deliciousness the south indian food is very light and healthy. All the food dishes that can be very popular and are the favorite cuisine of south Indian people all that food dishes are to be served in a single plate and that single plate is known as thali and because that plate contains only south Indian food so that thali is very popular with the name of south Indian thali. 


Punjabi thali: - 

Punjab is a part of north India or a state of north India/India which is very famous in its food. From the whole India Punjabi food is a famous and popular cuisine in its spiciness. Everyone know that thing that the Punjabi food is very spicy and very high in various other types of spices. Although every dish from Punjab is very famous, the dish that is the pride of Punjab, the heart and soul of Punjabi cuisine, is Makki ki Roti with Sarson ka Saag. These two dishes are so iconic that whenever they are served on a plate, people immediately understand that it's a Punjabi thali (platter).



Gujrati thali: -

Gujarat is also a very famous and beautiful place and state of India that cover a large part of India. Just as the state of Gujarat is famous in India, so is its food. People love Gujarati food even more than they love the state itself. Just as Punjabi food is famous for its spiciness, Gujarati food is famous for its sweetness. While Punjabi food is very spicy, Gujarati food is equally sweet. Gujarati food is so sweet because Gujarati people prefer sweet food, and they add jaggery to almost every dish, which is why their cuisine is so famous. Along with their dishes, they also serve fried green chilies so that those who find the food too sweet can eat the chilies to balance the taste. The platter on which all these dishes are served together is called a Gujarati thali.


Rajasthani thali: - 

Rajasthani thali is the thali in which all kind of Rajasthan food is cooked, served or can be put together in a single plate.  Rajasthani thali can contain all the dishes which is cooked, served and can be eaten in the Rajasthan. 




A Jain special thali is a very healthy and very pure meal that is made according to the Jain rules. Jain special thali is eaten by the people who is follow the Jain religion. In the Jain special thali there is no onion, no garlic, and no root vegetables are used to make the Jain food. The Jain peoples are not eating the Root vegetables like potato, carrot, onion, ginger, and garlic are not eat because these vegetables are growing the under the ground. 




Bahubali thali: - 

Bahubali thali is the largest thali in which all the dishes of all the regions, state, culture and tradition can be served that plate is referred to as the Bahubali thali(platter).
